For most of us, study was a difficult enough activity in the full flush of youth. But as adults, successfully memorising various facts and points of argument while also retaining information about work, mortgage repayments and dental appointments is even more of a daunting challenge. And while as youngsters we had the time to simply stare at a paragraph until its contents was indelibly imprinted on our frontal lobe, adult learners have less time to hit the books and so need to make those briefer study periods more productive.
